Catholic Life of the Schools'
St. Joseph's is one of a family of approximately 2,200 Catholic schools educating roughly 850,000 pupils across England and Wales.
Catholic schools have four main purposes:
-
Evangelise- so that Christ is known to all
-
Faith Formation- assist parents in this important role
-
Faith Community- to be at the service of the local church
-
Common Good- to be at the service of society as a whole.
St. Joseph's strives to provide an authentic and high quality Catholic education, recognising every child and adult as being formed in the image and likeness of God. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, delivered through discretely taught subjects, our school seeks to recognise every child’s gift. We seek to live out our mission of compassion, challenge and excellence in everything we do.
As a school we are closely tied to our Parish of The Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Religious Education Curriculum
Religious Education Curriculum
We believe that our primary aim as Catholic schools is to provide a holistic curriculum which develops every aspect of each of our children; spiritually, morally, academically, emotionally, socially, culturally and physically. We want our children to be the best they can be, be stewards of our Earth and see Christ in themselves and each other.

Federation Prayers
Federation Prayers
Prayer is an important part of Catholic worship as it provides the opportunity to communicate with God and through this communication, our children develop a strong lasting relationship with Him.

Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic Social Teaching
Catholic Social Teaching is based on the belief that God has a plan for creation, a plan to build his kingdom of peace, love, and justice. It holds that God has a special plan for every single one of us, whoever we are. Our part in this plan isn’t just limited to things ‘spiritual’, or times when we do “religious things.” It involves every aspect of our lives, from the things we pray about, to how we live as responsible global citizens.

Collective Worship
Collective Worship
Prayers are held each morning in the classrooms to enable each child to ‘reflect’ on their Christian and morale beliefs.
Whole school assemblies are held each Monday morning beginning with a Collective Act of Worship, we also recognise and congratulate children’s success in their weekly work and activities, and identify individual talents during our Good Work assembly on Fridays. This is usually led by the Head of School.
Whole school Mass is celebrated at the start of each school term at our local parish The Sacred Heart Of Jesus Church.
