1:1 Teaching Assistant

1:1 Teaching Assistant Salary: Grade 3 Spine Point 2-6 (27,306 - £28,977) Pro Rata – Term Time Only Location: EYFS / Key Stage 1 / Key Stage 2 Contract term: Fixed term - 1-year position (with a view to extend) based on 32.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm, including lunchtime supervision) We are seeking to appoint a committed, caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join and support our team at St. Joseph’s. This role is ideal for those who genuinely have a passion for helping children, particularly with learning difficulties, and also a fantastic opportunity for those considering a career in teaching to gain valuable first-hand experience.

Full time – Fixed term 1st September 2024 – 31st August 2025

(1 Year Fixed Term Contract with the view to extend)

We are seeking to appoint a committed, caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join and support our team at St. Joseph’s. This role is ideal for those who genuinely have a passion for helping children, particularly with learning difficulties, and also a fantastic opportunity for those considering a career in teaching to gain valuable first-hand experience.

What does the role involve? The main aim of the role is to support our teachers to deliver academic excellence, day in, day out, with professionalism and enthusiasm so that our pupils achieve their potential including:

  • Assisting pupils with their educational and social development, on an individual and group basis
  • Providing support for individual pupils inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Assisting teachers with the maintenance of pupil records
  • Building and maintaining successful relationships with pupils, whilst treating them with respect and consideration
  • Provide expertise to deliver a personalised curriculum for each pupil’s learning
  • Work together with families and other agencies to ensure every pupil is valued, challenged and supported
  • Have the highest expectation that every pupil will make sustained academic and personal progress

We need someone who:

  • Is ideally a practicing Catholic, but certainly committed to the Catholic ethos
  • Has experience of working with children with autism/Special Educational Needs
  • Effective communication and interaction skills
  • Has the ability to supervise and organize pupils
  • Has the ability to manage behavior in a calm and positive way
  • Is flexible in working with the school team

Applicants will have previous experience with working with primary aged children. You will be educated to at least GCSE level (or equivalent) in literacy and numeracy.
