Newsletter 24th April 2015

24th April

Dear Parents and carers

Thanks for another good week! This week has been very exciting and our Science day and maths parents evening has made it so!  I have been privileged to sit in some Year 6 classes and listen to some of the wonderful creative writing they have produced.

 Science Day

Thank you to Mrs Wake and Mr Reilly our Science Coordinators who really got us thinking with some egg-cellent eggs-amples of how to launch an egg!! (Hahaha!).  We had tubes, sponges, water, oil, cotton wool, rice krispies, tissue paper, egg cartons just to name a few of the ideas that the children invented.  It was great to look at them all.  There are still some examples In the infant foyer – try and catch a glimpse of them.

 Maths Morning and Maths Evening

This week Rob Eastaway did two special meetings for junior and infant parents.  I have seen Rob before and he was such an inspiring speaker and this time he didn’t disappoint.  If you didn’t get to see him he has written an easy to read book called ‘Maths for Mums and Dads’ that is full of games and number ‘tricks’. You can find this on Amazon. You can also hear Rob for yourself on podcast via the BBC.

Whole School Mass

My thanks go to Mrs Mokogwu, Ms Jameson, Ms Gallindo and Ms Stalker who made sure our school Mass went without a hitch.  It is always lovely to hear such beautiful singing and share the Mass in the knowledge we are, in participation with parents, ensuring the growth of the children’s faith. Of course we are also glad to see Father Victor back after his break.  Thank you Father Victor!

 Rosary Collection

If you have any Rosaries that are surplus to requirements could you let us have them via the school offices.  The parish is collecting for ‘Rosaries Abroad’ and we would like to help them collect as many as possible.

Parish Foodbank

Please don’t forget the parish collects tins and non-perishable items for their foodbank.  You can drop these items to school too and we will ensure the Church receives them. Thank you.

 Reflection

‘To act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with God’ Micah 6v8Lord, we ask for the power of your Spirit in our lives each day so that we may live more fully in your presence. Amen

Be blessed! Have a good weekend.
